Luftbilder Ostseefjord Schlei, Maasholm, Port Olpenitz, Schleimünde | 1871 wurde der Leuchtturm Schleimünde auf der Nordmole erbaut, um eine 1861 errichtete beleuchtete Bake aus dänischer Zeit abzulösen. Der Turm dient seitdem als wichtiges Leuchtfeuer für die Schifffahrt im Mündungsbereich der Schlei und ist ein Wahrzeichen der Lotseninsel. Der Leuchtturm wurde in den folgenden Jahrzehnten mehrfach umgestaltet, sowohl äußerlich als auch hinsichtlich des Feuers, das von Rübenöl über Petroleum und Gas bis zur heutigen Nutzung der Elektrizität gewechselt hat. Die ursprüngliche Gürtellinse aus dem Jahr 1871 ist bis heute im Einsatz.
